Poet Vishnunarayanan Namboothiri passed away at the age of 81 at his residence Sreevalli Illam at Thycaud here on Thursday. He is the recipient of numerous honours including Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour in India..
He was born on June 2, 1939 at Iringolil in Thiruvalla. A postgraduate in English, Vishnunarayanan Namboothiri had worked as English professor in colleges in Kozhikode, Kollam, Pattambi, Ernakulam, Trippunithura, Chittur and Thiruvananthapuram. After retirement,served as a priest in his ancestral temple.
